Understanding the impact of migration: measures and categories in Europe and Australia

Europe and Australia are experiencing divergent debates over the economic and social consequences of global migration flows. This symposium examines how current research has conceptualized, quantified and analysed differing forms of migration. It focuses on how to better measure and understand the endogenous impact of migration on labour markets, government services and wider society. Through connecting quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, the discussion will explore the extent to which migration policy can be an engine for economic growth or social change.
