ANZSOG Series reaches 50th Volume milestone

ANU Press has published the 50th volume in the ANZSOG series, marking a significant milestone in ANZSOG’s relationship with the university press.
The latest publication, titled Value for Money: Budget and financial management reform in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan and Australia, is an exploration of budgeting and financial management in the three jurisdictions.
Professor John Wanna – ANZSOG’s National Research Director and the series' Editor, said the series had grown to become one the main sources of “contemporaneous research and ideas-generation in Australasian social science directly relevant to governments, public executives, managers, and fellow researchers”.
The series includes studies of leadership and organisational management, policy management and implementation, organisational transformations, intergovernmental management, capacity-building and resilience, collaboration and working with stakeholders including not-for-profits, executive training and development, working with tight budgets and value for money frames.
“The series makes highly relevant research, contributed by globally recognised experts, freely accessible to interested readers in government, the public sector or with an interest in public administration and good public policy,” Professor Wanna said.
Emily Hazlewood, Acting Manager of ANU Press, said ANZSOG shared a common goal with the university press: “to support future development through the ready exchange of information and ideas”.
“Through this successful publishing partnership, we have been able to pursue that goal by producing exceptional volumes of high-quality, independent research and advocacy that has helped to shape the modern public and governance sectors in Australia, New Zealand and beyond,” Ms Hazlewood said.
The ANZSOG series is freely available via ANU Press’ open-access platform, allowing them to be used by people around the world in line with ANZSOG’s mission to be a global leader in education and government-focused research relevant to the public sector.
“As well as contributing a significant volume of research to the field – with publications being downloaded over 175,000 times across 86 different countries – the ANZSOG series has a readership that ranges beyond large western democracies and into Asian, African, South American and the Middle Eastern countries including Qatar, Sudan, Colombia and Myanmar,” Ms Hazlewood said.
