Mr Nicholas Simoes da Silva came to the ANU in 2014 to study a combined Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and International Relations with a minor in History. He is interested in social justice and law reform, particularly concerning labour violations and the protection of workers’ rights. He is also concerned with the historical development of the European Union and explanations for integration and Europeanisation in the Union. This has led to work as a research assistant at the ANU Centre for European Studies and for Ms Anne McNaughton (Senior Lecturer, ANU College of Law). Conferences EU Studies Association Asia Pacific Conference 2017 (1-2 July, Tokyo). Presenting paper on The European Union in Infectious Disease Control and Prevention: Explanations for Integration and Europeanisation. Other Europe in 2017: Elections, Poland, and the Future of the EU - Presentation to Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade staff outgoing to Europe as part of the ANU Centre for European Studies’ EU Training Course (30 March 2017)
