Steve Nerlich commenced his PhD on a part-time basis in November 2011, studying outgoing Australian university student mobility at the Australian National University Centre for European Studies. Otherwise he is employed full-time as Director of the International Research and Analysis Unit in the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.

My PhD research involves exploring the actual and potential value of an international education for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the STEM disciplines. I will investigate the experience of Australian students as well as international education strategies and opportunities in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
