Abstract

On Wednesday 1st August 2012 the Australian National University’s Centre for European Studies held an invitation-only Roundtable on trends in Russia and their implications for the Indo-Pacific region. The Roundtable aimed to support preparation for the September 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Vladivostok.  It brought together prominent academic experts and senior public servants with strong relevant backgrounds to discuss developments in Russia’s relations with the Indo-Pacific. Conducted under Chatham House rules, the Roundtable also provided an opportunity to consider the longer term role of Russia in the region more broadly. This paper provides a summary of the issues addressed.
