French-Australian Water and Land Management Initiative: Publications launch
The French-Australian water and land management initiative was developed in collaboration with the French Embassy in Australia in 2010, following on from substantial existing collaboration in the sector. The first fora of the initiative were held in Montpellier in 2011 and Canberra in 2013, attended by French and Australian researchers, government officials, industry representatives and community water and land management leaders. These interactions led to the development of a number of new collaborative projects, including edited research collections. This launch will celebrate the development and production of three edited collections from the initiative.
- A special issue of the Journal of Hydrology December 2014 on ‘Water Governance across competing scales: coupling water and land management’, edited by Katherine Daniell (ANU) and Olivier Barreteau (IRSTEA).
- A book (Springer, June 2015) on ‘Understanding and Managing Urban Water in Transition’, edited by Quentin Grafton (ANU), Katherine Daniell (ANU), Jean-Daniel Rinaudo (BRGM), Celine Nauges (UQ) and Noel Chan (ANU).
- A book (Springer, forthcoming) on ‘Integrated Groundwater Management: from environmental, social, economic, governance and decision support dimensions’ edited by Tony Jakeman (ANU), Olivier Barreteau (IRSTEA). Randall Hunt (USGS), Jean- Daniel Rinaudo (BRGM) and Andrew Ross (UNESCO).
Brief presentations of the publications will be provided, as well as perspectives on the collaboration. The launch will be followed by refreshments, including wine generously provided by the French-Australian Association for Science and Technology (ACT).
