Music from the Great War by German and French composers, including works written in the trenches at Verdun, accompanied by projected images of the WW1 studies of Franz Marc, Germany’s greatest cultural loss of the Great War, killed on 4th March 1916 at the Battle of Verdun.

Performers: Louise Page soprano, Tamara-Anna Cislowska piano, the Sculthorpe Quartet (Veronique Serret & Christopher Latham violins, Tor Fromyr viola, David Pereira cello)

A pre-concert conversation between Alex Sloan, the renowned historian Joan Beaumont, Jacqueline Dwyer, researcher and daughter of Jacques Playoust, a Franco-Australian soldier who served at Verdun, and Flowers of War director Chris Latham, who will read from Marc’s battlefield letters to his wife.
