Americans debate US politics in Canberra
Friday 16 October 2015

On the 14th October 2015 SPIR hosted seven young US up and coming political leaders to discuss the 2016 US Election.

SPIR was delighted to host seven visitors from the United States to ANU, a mix of current and former elected representatives, campaigners, and lobbyists, on their visit to Australia organized by Australia Political Exchange Council. Professor Simon Jackman, Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Professor of Political Science, moderated a 90 minute question and answer event with the American visitors, covering the state of the 2016 U.S. presidential election and some of the political and policy challenges confronting the United States. The audience included numerous students — some of these were alumni of the 2014 and 2015 SPIR Washington DC Intern program who asked some of the more interesting and insightful questions of the evening.

The SBS story on the event can be found here.
