Dr Sean Burges
Qualifications
PhD (Warwick) in Politics and International Studies; MA (Western Ontario) in Political Science
Biography and interests
Brazilian foreign and development policy, inter-American affairs, the international aspects of democratization, South-South relations and the evolution of the global political economy viewed from the South. Sean comes to ANU after three and half years working in the Government of Canada. He was the 2006-2007 Cadieux-Leger Fellow with the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, a Senior Planning Analyst with Canada Border Services Agency (2007-2008) and a Senior Policy Analysis in the policy branch of the Canadian International Development Agency (2008-2010), where he helped implement new Canadian development assistance legislation and lay the groundwork for policy engagement with emerging Southern development actors.
Previous to his time in government was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and Lecturer of the Third World in International Politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
