European Climate Diplomacy Day. International Climate Negotiations 101.

More than 190 countries will meet in Paris in December to reach an agreement on how to limit global temperature increase to below two degrees Celsius. But many people find the climate negotiations difficult to understand. This event aims to demystify the climate negotiations, and will include a chance to hear from different perspectives on climate issues – science, diplomacy and business. It is designed as a general introduction to the topics, for a non-specialist audience.

This event will include a free showing of “The Climate Blueprint” film. This award winning one-hour documentary charts the history of climate negotiations, its main actors and the issues at stake. It will be the Australian premiere of this film, screened simultaneously in 7 Australian cities as part of the European Union Climate Diplomacy Day which will be celebrated around the world.

Climate change will affect everyone, not just diplomats, and a wide range of people will be part of the solution. The screening will be followed by an interactive panel discussion with representatives from science, business, politics and diplomacy with a wealth of experience in tackling climate change problems.
