African Studies Workshop 2022:

Studying Africa at ANU: Interdisciplinary Perspectives

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The intrinsic complexity of Africa, as a subject of study, raises two enduring questions: First, what is the best approach to studying Africa, and second, who is best suited to study the continent? The theme for the workshop is “Studying Africa at ANU: Interdisciplinary Perspectives”. This workshop will bring together students and academics from diverse disciplines—using a multiplicity of approaches in studying Africa at ANU and Australia in general, to provide a better understanding of this complexity. The workshop has been funded by the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS).

Please email short abstracts (150 words) and the title of proposed papers to ernest.akuamoah@anu.edu.au and cc anu.adeyemi@anu.edu.au by Thursday 24 November 2022. Please indicate whether you are a postgraduate or Early Career Researcher (ECR). Notification of abstract acceptance will be sent on Tuesday 29 November 2022.

All enquiries regarding the African Studies workshop should be emailed to Ernest Akuamoah at ernest.akuamoah@anu.edu.au and Anu Adeyemi at anu.adeyemi@anu.edu.au

*Update: This event will now be held both in-person and online via Zoom. Zoom details will be provided a day prior to the event start date.
