CASS staff recognised in Vice-Chancellor's staff excellence and service awards 2015

Eight College of Arts and Social Sciences staff were recognised last night in the Vice-Chancellor’s staff excellence and service awards.
The awards are given out annually and they serve to support, encourage and recognise excellence in achievement and contributions that advance the University’s strategic goals.
Staff from CASS received the only two VC awards for Public Policy and Outreach. One of these awards went to Associate Professor John Minns for his vision, work and leadership in growing theAustralian National Centre for Latin American Studies (ANCLAS) into the dynamic centre it is today.
The second award was granted to Dr Dougald O’Reilly for his contributions to public policy and debate through his work on the bi-lateral agreement between Australia and Cambodia to prevent the importation of illegally acquired antiquities to Australia.
Anna Wierzbicka, a Professor in the Linguistics Program within the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics, was commended for her 40 years of service to the University.
Five CASS staff were recognised for their contribution of 25 years of service to the university. These staff were Dr Douglas Craig, Dr Brian Garrett, Niven Stines, Wendy Teakel and Associate Professor Susan West.
The awards were presented by ANU Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Ian Young at a ceremony held at University House. Professor Young thanked all the awardees and commended them for their outstanding contribution to the University and its community.
